SEAPC Coins for Kids 2017 Recap

Back

They may not have been literal “pennies from heaven” but there are some pennies that definitely went toward heavenly purposes! I am referring to the money collected in 2017 for SEAPC Coins for Kids. There was a total of $16,000 raised, and the money was allocated both locally and overseas. Locally, some of the funds went toward providing warm winter clothing for refugees in the Pittsburgh area. Also, sponsorships were given for children to attend Christian-based retreats, and for at-risk kids to attend a summer Bible camp.

Some of the collected funds went overseas to provide brand new playground equipment, kitchenware, and clothing for kids at the Takeo children’s home in Takeo, Cambodia.

You can be involved. Spread the word about Coins For Kids. Encourage your church to become involved by organizing a Coins For Kids fundraiser event. Perhaps the kids at your church can have a friendly competition between the boys and the girls to see who can collect the most donations over a 3-month campaign. Perhaps a group of adults and older teenagers from your church would be willing to organize a collection event outside of their local Walmart or local grocery store. Please contact our SEAPC office 412-826-9063 for specific directions on how to organize a fundraiser.

Remember, mere coins can be the catalyst to opening the door to huge blessings! It may seem like just pocket change, but when the pocket change from one source is combined with the pocket change from various other sources and the love of Jesus is added, something much larger than you can ever imagine is accomplished! Additionally, the giver is also blessed. A scripture passage in 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 holds a promise: “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all you need, you will abound in every good work.”

We are looking forward to what this year holds for SEAPC Coins for Kids!
